Personal Life & Activities

I am active in a variety of organizations both at the University of Iowa and at home in Naperville, Illinois. At Iowa, I have been a member of the University of Iowa Rugby Club for the last three years. While a member of the team, I was on the recruiting committee that both sought out experienced players and introduced the sport of rugby to inexperienced ones. I am also a member of the fraternity, Delta Upsilon. As part of the fraternity, I serve both as a member of the judicial board and as the intramural chairman.  As a judicial board member, I am responsible for reviewing the conduct of a fellow member, applying the rules, reaching a decision and informing the member of the disciplinary action. As the intramural chairman, I am in charge of organizing, registering, and administrating the fraternity’s intramural teams which involves 25 athletes. Finally, as a member of Delta Upsilon, I participate in annual philanthropic events which benefit the Iowa City community.

In addition to my activities at the University of Iowa, I try and stay active in my community at home. I am member of Saint Athanasios Greek Orthodox church in Aurora, Illinois. During breaks, I assist the parish council with various church maintenance projects. I participate in the church’s semi-annual multi-day food festival. These festivals raise a significant portion of the church’s budget which enable it to carry out a variety of ministries in the Aurora area and beyond. I have earned the rank of Eagle Scout and I am a member of the Order of the Arrow, a Boy Scout honor society. For my Eagle Scout project, I renovated my elementary school’s baseball fieldwhich made it eligible for little league use. From an early age, helping others and sports have been an integral part of my life.
